Holy Day Celebration:

Birth of the Báb - October 19, 2001

On the evening of October 19, 2001, Bahá'ís from all across metro Detroit gathered at the Detroit Bahá'í Center to commemorate the anniversary of the Birth of the Báb in the early morning of October 20, 1819.  The Báb is regarded by Bahá'ís as the Founder of the Bábí Faith and the Prophet-Herald of the Bahá'í Faith, Whose mission paved the way for the advent of Bahá'u'lláh.

The Center was nearly filled with Baha'is and guests.
Sharon Davis of Farmington Hills gave a short talk on the early life of the Báb.
As this was a devotional gathering, many prayers were recited in English, Persian and Arabic.
Music played a big part in the celebration, including this soul-stirring rendition of "Amazing Grace."
Afterwards, everyone was invited downstairs to partake of some refreshments.
